Home Battery Storage

Power your home on your terms.

Store solar. Charge off-peak. Use cheaper electricity when you need it. With solar or without it.

Greenway Energy designs and installs home battery storage systems across London and the surrounding areas. Add battery storage to existing solar, install a standalone home battery, or combine solar and battery storage in one complete system — designed around your home, electricity usage and tariff.

Solar + Battery Store more of the electricity your panels generate.
Standalone Battery Charge from cheaper off-peak grid electricity.
Retrofit Storage Add battery storage to an existing solar PV system.

Battery storage explained

Use electricity when it suits you.

A home battery gives you more control over when and how you use electricity, helping you make better use of the energy available to your home.

Solar is one way to fill a battery. It isn't the only way.

01

Keep more of your solar

Store surplus electricity generated during the day and use it later, rather than exporting it immediately when your home doesn't need it.

02

Charge when electricity costs less

Charge from the grid during suitable off-peak periods and use that stored electricity later when grid prices are higher.

03

Add a battery to existing solar

Already have solar PV? Battery storage can often be retrofitted to an existing installation without replacing the whole system.

04

Build in backup power

Where required, suitable battery systems can be designed to keep selected circuits — or more of the home — operating during a grid outage.

05

Take part in Virtual Power Plant schemes

Compatible battery systems can participate in Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and other grid-support programmes, allowing stored energy to be managed or exported at useful times. Availability and rewards depend on the battery, energy supplier and individual scheme.

06

Make more of smart energy tariffs

Compatible batteries can use time-of-use and dynamic tariffs to charge when electricity is cheaper and, where the tariff and system allow, export when rates are more favourable. Some systems can automate much of this around forecasts, tariffs and household demand.

From survey to switch-on

Designed around your home.
Expertly installed.

A good battery installation starts long before anything goes on the wall. We assess your property, electrical supply and energy use first, then design the system around what you actually want it to do.

01

Survey

We inspect the electrical supply, existing equipment and proposed battery location, and discuss how you use electricity.

02

System design

We select and size the battery around your usage, tariff, existing solar and what you want the system to achieve.

03

DNO approval & commissioning

We manage the DNO application, approval and commissioning process for your battery installation.

04

Installation

Your battery system is expertly installed and integrated with your home's electrical system, in accordance with current Wiring Regulations and the manufacturer's instructions.

05

Commission & handover

We commission the system, configure its operation and show you how to monitor and use your new battery day to day.

Intelligent system design

A battery system that works with your home.

A home battery doesn't operate in isolation. Solar PV, EV charging, heating, electricity tariffs and household demand all affect how a battery should be sized, installed and configured.

We design the whole energy system

We look beyond the battery itself and consider how electricity moves around your home — what generates it, what uses it, when you need it and what you pay for it. The aim is simple: make the different parts of your home energy system work together.

Got an EV? Your home battery shouldn't charge it by accident.

Without the right system design and configuration, an EV charger can draw energy from your home battery — using stored household electricity to charge the much larger battery sitting on your driveway. Where appropriate, we design and configure the installation to prevent this, keeping your home battery available for the loads it was intended to support.

Tariffs matter too

Battery capacity is only part of the equation. We consider your electricity tariff, charging windows, solar generation and typical household demand so your battery can charge and discharge at useful times rather than simply following a generic schedule.

Generation Solar PV
Storage Home battery
Demand Home, heating & EV
Optimisation Smart tariffs

The clever bit isn't installing a battery. It's making everything work together.

That's why our recommendations are based on your home, your electricity use and what you want the system to achieve — not simply on how many kilowatt-hours of battery we can fit on the wall.

The practical side

Designed for your home.
Priced for the real world.

Every installation is different, but understanding the likely cost and what the work involves shouldn't be difficult. We'll agree the system, equipment location and proposed cable routes with you before installation begins.

Home battery storage · fully installed From £4,500*

The final price depends on the battery system and specification, where the equipment is installed, the electrical work required and whether additional features such as backup power are included. Your quotation covers the complete installation, including DNO application, installation, commissioning and certification.

01

Thoughtful positioning

We'll consider both the technical requirements and how the equipment fits into your home, agreeing the proposed battery location with you before installation.

02

Discreet cabling

Cable routes are planned as part of the installation. We conceal cabling wherever practical and agree any visible routes with you before work begins.

03

Minimal disruption

We plan the electrical work and any required power interruption in advance, so you know what to expect before installation day.

*Guide price for an entry-level home battery system with a straightforward installation. Final cost will vary depending on battery capacity and specification, equipment location, cable routes, the existing electrical installation and any additional features required. A fixed quotation will be provided following survey and system design.

Battery cost estimator

What would battery storage cost for your home?

Tell us roughly how much electricity you use and what you're looking for. We'll give you a sensible guide to battery size and installed cost.

Not sure? Your annual electricity use should be shown on your bill.

02 Which type of system suits you?

Both are fully installed systems from established manufacturers. Premium systems add features, integration and higher-spec equipment rather than simply more battery capacity.

03 Would you like whole-home backup during a power cut?

Whole-home backup

Keeping your home powered during a grid outage requires additional gateway and switching equipment to safely disconnect the property from the grid and allow the battery system to operate independently. It also involves additional cabling, earthing, protection and commissioning. Allow approximately £2,000 in addition to the battery system.

Your estimate

Three quick answers.

Your suggested battery size and guide installed price will appear here.

Suggested battery storage —
Battery system —
Whole-home backup + approx. £2,000
Guide installed price —

This is a broad guide, not a quotation. Battery sizing and final price depend on your property, electricity use, equipment and installation requirements.
